1. What you get, the price and delivery

  1. 01Business case and role review

  4. 04Candidate advert
  5. 05Interview plan and weighted scorecard

  • Hire. The role and the case hold up. Advertise with the matched pack.
  • Reshape. The need is real, but not as drafted. Change scope, level or ownership first.
  • Pause. The case or key facts are missing. Don’t spend on an advert until they are resolved.

Price

£99 + VAT launch price for the first five paid Health Checks (£118.80 including £19.80 VAT), then £249 + VAT standard price (£298.80 including £49.80 VAT). Both prices buy the same service: one UK finance vacancy per order.

Delivery

Complete briefs and payments received before 12 noon UK time on a working day are delivered by 5pm the next working day. Submissions received after noon, at weekends or on bank holidays are treated as received on the next working day. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England and Wales.

The clock starts when we have both your payment and a complete brief: the required answers plus usable role material (a draft job description, advert or role notes). Answering “Not known yet” where it is accepted does not stop the clock; it becomes a finding in your report. If something essential is missing or unusable, we tell you exactly what, and give you the revised delivery date.

Your order page and confirmation show the exact delivery date and time.

2. Suitable roles and scope

Finance directors, CFOs, owners and HR leaders hiring a Management Accountant, Financial Accountant, Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Head of Finance in the UK.

  • Management Accountant
  • Financial Accountant
  • Finance Manager
  • Financial Controller
  • Head of Finance
  • One UK finance vacancy per order.
  • Within seven calendar days of delivery you may request either up to two written questions about the report, sent through your order page and answered in writing, or one 15-minute call about the report, by arrangement. A revised report and a second vacancy are not included. We answer written questions, or offer a call time, within two working days of the request. A materially changed role (for example a different title, seniority, responsibilities, reporting line or location, where it changes the assessment) is a new Health Check, not a clarification. Following a role change recommended in the report does not by itself require another purchase.
  • No candidate introductions, searches or recruitment service. No call required.

4. What you provide

Allow around 15 minutes to complete your brief. No call required.

  • Your draft job description, advert or role notes (paste or upload)
  • The role basics: title, employment type, reporting line, location and working pattern
  • Salary range, and whether the budget is approved (as separate answers)
  • The business problem, what happens today and who does the work
  • Day-one capabilities and what must be different after six months
  • “Not known yet” is accepted where marked; it becomes a finding in the report, not a blocker

Leave out candidate names and CVs. See every question.

5. How the report is produced

  • Reports are drafted with AI assistance from the facts in your brief and role material, plus our salary reference for salary ranges.
  • Every draft goes through automated quality checks: conclusions drawn from missing facts, contradictions resolved without evidence, invented figures or benchmarks, salary range confused with budget approval, provisional requirements presented as settled, scorecard weights that do not total 100%, and incomplete sections.
  • Every report is checked before release by a finance recruitment specialist with ten years' experience as owner-director of a boutique finance recruitment consultancy.
  • Nothing is delivered automatically: a report is released only after that check and approval.

Figures about your business come only from you. Where you don’t know, the report says so. Reports never invent salary figures; salary ranges come from Finance Hiring Lab's salary reference.

Your brief is used only to produce your report. It is never used for recruitment outreach, and the Health Check includes no candidate introductions.

The free checker gives general guidance from eight answers. The paid Health Check reviews your actual brief and role material and produces a matched hiring pack. Try the free checker.

6. Questions

What does the report include?
A business case check (what the hire must fix, what the problem costs you today, whether a hire is the right fix, budget against level, and what must be true at 6 and 12 months for the hire to pay off); gaps and contradictions in your brief; a hire, reshape or pause recommendation with reasons; a revised job description built around 6- and 12-month outcomes; a candidate advert consistent with that specification; an interview scorecard covering essential capabilities, evidence to collect and minimum evidence required; and unresolved decisions you must confirm before advertising. Editable Markdown downloads of the job description, advert and scorecard are included with the PDF. The sample report shows the format.
How is this different from the free checker?
The free Hiring Friction Checker gives general guidance from eight answers. The paid Finance Hiring Health Check reviews your actual brief and role material and produces a matched hiring pack: a hire, reshape or pause recommendation with reasons, a revised job description, a candidate advert, an interview plan and a weighted scorecard.
Is “Stress-test my hire” a different product?
No. “Stress-test my hire” leads to the Finance Hiring Health Check, the same single service at the same price.
Will you tell me what a bad hire would cost us?
No. We do not use generic statistics or averages about bad hires, and reports never invent salary figures; salary ranges come from Finance Hiring Lab's salary reference. The business case check works from the costs you tell us — for example time lost at month-end, management time, interim or overtime spend — and says plainly where a cost is unknown. It then sets out what a wrong hire would put at risk in your terms (salary, recruitment fees, notice and re-hire time, and the problem staying unsolved), whether a hire is the right fix compared with reshaping existing roles, interim cover, a systems change or pausing, and what must be true at 6 and 12 months for you to confirm. It reduces the risk of a mis-hire by checking the role and the case first; it cannot remove that risk.
How does the timing work?
Complete briefs and payments received before 12 noon UK time on a working day are delivered by 5pm the next working day. Submissions received after noon, at weekends or on bank holidays are treated as received on the next working day. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England and Wales. The clock starts when we have both your payment and a complete brief (the required answers plus usable role material). A “Not known yet” answer where the form accepts one does not stop the clock; it becomes a finding in your report. Once payment is confirmed, your order page and confirmation show the exact delivery date. If something essential is missing or unusable, we tell you exactly what and give you the revised date; we never extend it silently.
What do I need to provide?
Your draft job description or advert (pasted or uploaded), your name, email and company, and short answers to the core questions: the role, the problem it should solve, what is going wrong today and who covers it, what the problem costs, other fixes considered, salary and budget status, attendance, day-one must-haves and what must be different after six months. Most are quick choices. Allow around 15 minutes to complete your brief. Where you choose “Not known yet”, the report asks you a targeted follow-up rather than guessing. Extra detail, such as benefits, systems or your interview plan, is optional.
How is the report produced?
Your brief is checked for completeness, then a structured report is drafted with AI assistance from the facts you supply; salary ranges come only from our salary reference. Every draft goes through automated quality checks (for example unsupported conclusions from missing facts, invented figures, contradictions resolved without evidence, scorecard weights and incomplete sections). Every report is checked before release by a finance recruitment specialist with ten years' experience as owner-director of a boutique finance recruitment consultancy. Nothing is delivered automatically: a report is released to your private order page only after that check and approval. Delivery is the next working day under our delivery policy.
How is confidential information handled?
Briefs and uploads are stored privately and used only to produce your report. We only use AI services whose terms do not allow your information to be used to train their models. Reports are delivered through a private page, not as email attachments. Please do not include candidate CVs, names or other personal information about individuals: the Health Check is about the vacancy, not about people.
Do you supply candidates?
No. The Health Check provides a written vacancy assessment and hiring pack. It does not supply candidates or run searches. Your brief is used only to produce your report. It is never used for recruitment outreach, and the Health Check includes no candidate introductions.
Does the price include VAT?
No. Prices are shown excluding VAT, and VAT at 20% is added: the £99 + VAT launch price is £118.80 in total (£19.80 VAT), and the standard £249 + VAT price is £298.80 in total (£49.80 VAT). Both prices buy exactly the same service. The total including VAT is shown before you pay. You receive a numbered VAT invoice showing our VAT number (GB425780485).
What happens after I pay?
You receive a payment receipt from Stripe and a payment acknowledgement from us. We then check your order and send an order acceptance email, which forms the contract and links to your numbered VAT invoice and the terms you accepted; acceptance never moves your delivery deadline later. Your report is prepared and checked, and when it is ready you receive an email with a link to view and download the PDF and editable hiring-pack files from your private order page.
What clarification is included after delivery?
Within seven calendar days of delivery you may request either up to two written questions about the report, sent through your order page and answered in writing, or one 15-minute call about the report, by arrangement.
What if I need a refund?
Before substantive work begins, you can cancel for a full refund. After work starts and before delivery, we keep only a reasonable, explained amount for work actually completed. If we fail to meet the contract, we will investigate and provide correction, a price reduction or a refund as appropriate. If we miss the promised deadline, you can request a full refund within seven days. Agreed refunds are initiated within five working days, with a VAT credit note. See the terms for the full policy.
